You don't even need to hear these vandals to know that the desecration is driven by religious fanaticism, i.e. Islamism. I suppose the next video will show them taking down the cross with C4--it appears to be resistant to sledge hammers. If you listen to the sound track, they take particular pleasure in destroying the grave markers of the Jewish soldiers ("Ivri," "Israli"). There's one closeup of a jewish headstone being pulled down.

Even Qaddafi protected that British cemetery--Jews, Christians & all--just as Mubarak protected the Christians and Jews of Egypt, and their churches and synagogues. Thank you, Mr. Obama for bringing us yet another episode of Islamist Progress. 

Unfortunately, such hatred is too common. The Greeks vandalized and/or destroyed all the mosques, Muslim cemeteries and other Turkish symbols after the Greeks won their independence. And the Greeks vandalized and destroyed Jewish communities wholesale, killed Jews, burned the Torah scrolls, expropriated their homes, and used their tombstones for latrines because the Turks had protected the Jewish communities, many of which dated back to the time of Solomon and others were established after the expulsion from Spain and their welcome by the Sultan. Likewise, the Turks used some churches as stables and barracks, and the grander--like Agia Sofia in Istanbul and al-Aqsa in Jerusalem--they converted to mosques. 

But the destructive fervor is strongest in the Islamists. When the Jordanians captured the Old City of Jerusalem, they dynamited the Jewish quarter, reducing it to rubble, including one of the oldest synagogues in the world.The Waqf is today using bulldozers on the Temple Mount to erase all evidence that it was ever Jewish. The Taliban has dynamited the giant Afghan Buddhas. Hamas just bulldozed a 3,000-year-old-+ port in Gaza to build a terrorist training camp. 

On the other hand, in our country we have the ACLU systematically destroying public religious expression, mostly Christian.

p.s. There are in Jerusalem a number of Muslim cemeteries, some Arab and some Ottoman. They are on prime real estate in the business district and residential neighborhoods. All are neglected by Muslims, but protected by the Israeli government. The municipality of Jerusalem has offered to relocate the cemeteries with all due Muslim religious propriety, but the Waqf won't permit the "sacred" ground to be disturbed. However, during the British occupation, the Grand Mufti had no problem building himself a grand hotel over the graves in a large cemetery without bothering to relocate them, and a wide road right through the cemetery. The structure stood abandoned after 1948 until about three years ago. The Waldorf Astoria is now building a new hotel on the site--they saved the elegant facade and many of the other architectural features.
